“Jack of all trades, master of none” - is a figure of speech used in reference to a person that is competent with many skills but not necessarily outstanding in any. This, however, should not be used to describe Rangers. Around the World, Rangers and the other wilderness professionals (paid and volunteer) that we are including under the ‘Ranger’ banner, find themselves having to master skills more commonly associated with a number of distinct career paths. With a focus on Wilderness SAR, EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement, Park Ranger Magazine is sure to become the leading information source for all who work in the Wilderness environment.
